We all are facing a tough moment due to the COVID-19. It is harder for those who are far away from home, like international students in Australia. Thinking about this problem The Brazilian Community group, conceived with all the leadership by Priscila Ferreira, is currently working together with NGO, Servants of Two Hearts and Reaching Out Because We Can, in addition to the legal support of the Viva a Vida foundation in the program “Brazilian In Melbourne COVID-19”. A volunteer team with 60 people have been created, especially for the task of supporting overseas students. The results have been great. Over 15 weeks, around 15 tons of food have been donated for 350 Brazilian students so far.
“It was great. It is amazing got someone to help us over these difficult days.”
The volunteers meet weekly to donate to people who have lost their jobs due to the global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The donation action always takes place on Tuesdays in the parish hall, donated through a partnership with St Brigid’s Parish Church, in the Fitzroy North neighbourhood in Melbourne.
